January 11, 2026 – Xionggu Company learned from the Petroleum Engineering and Construction Company that the long-distance pipeline welding team for the Saudi MGS Phase III Project has set two construction records: 188 weld joints completed by a single unit in one week and 42 weld joints in a single day. Meanwhile, the one-time pass rate of weld joints has been stably maintained at over 98%, achieving outstanding performance.
Given the heavy welding workload and stringent quality requirements of the project, the Petroleum Engineering and Construction Company implemented a comprehensive package of efficiency and quality improvement measures. It introduced three sets of fully automatic welding processes adapted to different working conditions, which significantly enhanced the standardization level of welding operations and construction efficiency. According to the relevant person in charge of Sinopec Petroleum Engineering and Construction Company, as a key component of Saudi Arabia's east-west natural gas transmission artery, the Saudi Master Gas System (MGS) Phase III Project is a core infrastructure of Saudi Arabia's energy strategy and currently the country's largest-diameter (1,422 mm) oil and gas pipeline project. Upon completion, the project will greatly optimize the local energy structure and inject strong impetus into the stable regional energy supply. As a core energy infrastructure project in Saudi Arabia, the MGS Phase III Project is also among the largest-diameter oil and gas pipeline projects under construction in the country, imposing rigorous requirements on the environmental adaptability, operational stability and quality controllability of welding equipment.
