By using arc tracking technology, the double torch external welding system can maximize the welding speed in production and achieve high quality welding with the consistent welding parameters. Xionggu internal welding machine is the most efficient welding system for root pass welding of pipe joint at present. For 1219mm diameter pipes, the time for root pass welding is less than 90 seconds. Compared with any other root pass welding technology by external welding machine, the root pass welding done by internal welding machine can tolerate a larger amount of butt joint misalignment, which makes this technology can be applied to more complex pipeline projects. After the welding technology of root pass done by internal welding machine + fill & cap done by dual torch external welding machine is used in various projects, the repair rate of the welded pipe joints has been maintained at about 2%, which brings huge time savings and economic benefits to customers. Up to now, more than 2000km pipeline has been welded by Xionggu pipeline automatic welding machines in China and other countries.
